Prodata Systems Inc.Since its founding 1958, Prodata has been transformed from a paper-based, “co-processing” healthcare service into a leading provider of Internet accessible practice management services. Unique in the healthcare information systems industry, Prodata offers a true web-based system, along with extensive back-end services, that empowers medical practices to improve the efficiency of their business operations. Through extensive planning and continuous innovation, Prodata is the leader hundreds of billing specialists, doctors and clinics have counted on for decades.
Originally, Prodata’s paper-based practice management services focused on processing patient statements, reports and data back-up of client submitted registration and transaction forms. In the 1970’s, Prodata evolved technologically and included online terminal access to a mainframe, thereby adding application hosting to outsourced or co-processed services. In the mid-1980s, Prodata incorporated PC-based capabilities and added key features, such as scheduling and a managed care module, as well as an expanded capacity for electronic data interchange (EDI) claiming.
For many years Prodata operated in this “co-processing” environment, whereby its clients performed the front-end activity (creating inputs to the practice management system) and then transmitted data to Prodata to perform the burdensome back-office activities, such as month-end processing, statement mailing and EDI.
Prodata underwent an ownership and leadership change in late 1997. Prodata’s new leadership continued to improve the service to allow physicians to spend more time practicing medicine and less time weighed down by the administrative aspects of their practice. Most importantly, they envisioned combining Prodata’s core competencies with the connectivity provided by the Internet. Thus Prodata’s product in the beginning stages of becoming a high-quality Application Service Provider (ASP) solution for the physician marketplace.
In 1999, Prodata introduced WebSelect, the Internet-optimized version of its feature-rich and time-tested practice management software solution delivered under the ASP model using Citrix Metaframe 1.8. This product release was rapidly deployed and accepted in healthcare provider offices because it allowed anywhere, anytime access to patient data and immediately improved office efficiencies.
In January 2002, Prodata released its next-generation browser-based system, a windows based internet-hosted practice management solution. Prodata’s newest product is provided in two packages: ProPM™ Standard and its flagship product ProPM Maximizer™. Healthcare providers now have access to Prodata services to improve their back-office efficiency, augment cash flow, and create a healthier bottom line but also for an intuitive and easy-to-use practice management interface. Prodata’s extensive history of continued success will be an asset to your organization.
